Abstract Background The Dolichopodidae, commonly known as long-legged flies, are a cosmopolitan dipteran family in the superfamily Empidoidea. adults and majority of larvae this predaceous, feeding on small soft-bodied invertebrates, can be used biological control agents. Nevertheless, only few old taxonomic studies Egyptian dolichopodids have been carried out.
